GreeNTrans Project

We are setting up a small-scale vertical farm in this room as part of the GreeNTrans project at the University of Helsinki. The space will be equipped with the FlaxFarm hydroponic growth system by Vegger . FlaxFarm is an advanced, optimized hydroponic system featuring the Philips GrowWise Control System , which offers precise color control and dimming to ensure optimal energy efficiency and superior crop quality.

The GreeNTrans project aims to minimize synthetic nitrogen fertilizer usage and greenhouse gas emissions by leveraging the natural nitrogen-fixing capabilities of legume plants. This groundbreaking initiative places the Baltic-Nordic countries at the forefront of reducing greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening their geopolitical independence. In this vlog, we will share updates on the project's progress, conducted at the Department of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Helsinki.
